Learning Styles
The students appear to learn best and show higher engagement from activities that incorporate technology and media. Using iPads provides intrinsic motivation through the creation of personalized work and the careful reflection of learning. The incorporation of technology to the students learning is a new factor for them to embrace in third grade, so hands on group projects are effective as well.
Students have proven to be very successful when collaborating with a partner or a small group to be successful in their learning. Students require a detailed and organized lesson plan and structure to follow when completing their assignments. Additionally, frequently students benefit from one on one or small group conferencing to checkpoint the learning as they work.
Lastly, it is also found that most of the students have difficulty working in a completely silent atmosphere and therefore it is suggested to allow students the option of instrumental music playing in the classroom. For concentration purposes, the music is played on the teachers device throughout the classroom to minimize the distractions.
